Happy Campers

This was a hidden surprise. Spending two weeks travelling in Central Australia, this was a real gem of hospitality. The resort is built around the old station homestead surrounded by red river gums. Set at the foot of the ranges, Ross River Resort had a charm of its own with a resident flock of galahs, red-tailed cockatoos and a pair of camels. At night the bar/dining room, open fires inside and fire pit really made for a great atmosphere. There are a variety of accommodations. We had a cabin which while basic was quite serviceable. But it was the managers who made it for us. Friendly and hospitable they happily booked us in for dinner even though we had arrived after the 4 pm cut off for dinner orders. They later explained the intricacies of “Aussie Rules” football. We really wished that we had stayed a second night and explored N’Dhala Gorge.
